Dear Climate

Dear Climate is a conceptual project led by artist Marina Zurkow, along with collaborators Una Chaudhuri, Oliver Kellhammer, Fritz Erl, and Sarah Rothberg. The project consists of 68 posters and five audio files that begin to imagine new ways of thinking, talking, and feeling about climate. The artists identified a troubling gap between the apocalyptic discourses of climate change and the everyday lives of people, and Dear Climate seeks to make the distant, unapproachable conversations of climate change personal and relatable. Dear Climate is organized into a series of “movements” which craft “new kinds of personal engagement with climate change”; movements that reimagine our relationship to the climate, call on us to open ourselves to climate change, and as the last movement directs us, “Become Climate Change.”
