“Jón Gnarr is a renaissance man of sorts. Before forming the satirical Best Party in Reykjavik, Iceland and serving an extremely successful term as the city’s mayor from 2010 to 2014, he was known primarily as a comedian and punk rock musician, and now he is hoping to pursue a long-term career as an author. This semester, he has served as the first Writer-In-Residence for Rice’s Center for Energy and Environmental Research in the Humanities (CENHS). On April 4, 2015, Mr. Gnarr graciously agreed to sit down with The Standard to discuss a variety of topics related to his experience both in Reykjavik and Houston.”
